advice for skiing march april 17th

I was hoping to get some guidance on what to expect skiing and skinning up march from adk lodge this thurs. can anyone tell me if there is skiable snow from almost all theway down, or how far I may expect to pack skis. I have no crampons and wonder if I will need to have snow shoes or hiking boots. I was hoping the trail would be less than a mile before skiable snow. also has anyone skied it and used wax vs skins below marcy dam or to before phelps trail? .......any guidance greatly appreciated. my wish is to start on skis as soon as possible and avoid hiking boots, crampons or snowshoes. thanks, john. oh last question, is there a separate ski trail from hiking trail and providing the snow softens Thursday should I expect a relatively manageable trip down below I falls? thanks again
