Applicability of Aikido in BJJ

A friend (my old JJJ instructor) and I were disagreeing on how much knowledge of Aikido principles and techniques would help in BJJ. One of us thought a ton, the other some but not a whole lot. I then asked his thoughts to a BJJ BB who is also a 5th degree in Aikido to get it straight from the horse's mouth. He is a friend of my BJJ instructor's and came to teach a class last week (a blast). I'm not trying to trap and "catch" anyone here. I'm merely interested in the MAPers' thoughts -would it help? Not at all? Some? A lot? - and thought process - why? - on the subject. I'll share what the BJJ/Aikido's told me and what my initial opinion was later.
