Koto Ryu's Kurai Dori vs. Gyokko Ryu's Kamae

While Gyokko Ryu calls the positions/stances "Kamae", in Koto Ryu they seem to be called "Kurai Dori". A quick MAP search showed me that there's more to Kurai Dori, but I didn't quite understand the distinction. Does Koto Ryu's Kurai Dori involve kukan, or distance?
