I've been looking for more local stuff since my last dojo closed and after an open event I found the following things. My ninjutsu has turned into a sort of hobby/for fun thing to me that while I still enjoy, it's not really a priority in my life right now, and Im keen to see what's out there in other styles now. I'm not interested in grading, competition or even really becoming a teacher. Im just thinking what could be fun really. I'm boxing and doing some Mauy Thai every once in a while (bag and pad work) for the fitness, but I have been looking at other styles lately as well. This is what I have available:
Wing Chun. gone a few times, seems pretty good.
Theres a place teaching Goju Ryu and BJJ (pace also has a cage and regular sparring, also has both instructors for each style with impressive lineage. They have an open this tuesday that I want to check out.
Philipino styles. Met the guy this weekend, got over 30 years in the art, let me practice with him for a good 20 minutes and a lot of it reminded me of what I had been doing beforehand with my ninjutsu sensei. Seemed a really good fit.
All of these do seem really appealing, and are on different nights, so I think I may as well try them all. Does anyone have experiences with these styles they could tell me some more about them?
