"Lunge punches are stupid, nobody punches that way"

Thoughts?



We cop a lot of flak from people in other arts who say that lunge punching is unrealistic, stupid etc. But it seems pretty much exactly what's going on here, and this is MMA.



I guess the main difference is that this punch probably came in as a jab off the front foot, as opposed to from the rear hand with a step - but the end shape is pretty similar, and that's the important bit from a lot of angles (imo anyway).



Sincere grats @Chadderz on winning your fight, by the way - I'm not being a dick here or insulting what you do - I just saw this image you posted from your fight and thought it would form an interesting basis for some discussion :)
