My bride and I took a quick hike into Bear Lake via McKeever to check out the lean-to and the progression of leaf change.
The trail was in good condition due to lack of rain. The lake was gorgeous as usual. The lean-to was in better shape than I expected. Looks like people have, on the most part, been respectful of this gift. There is an accumulation of implements that misguided good willed people left to accommodate others. If you are one of those people please bring it out if you bring it in, please.
We hauled out a couple bags of garbage because some people have no problem carrying in full beers but find the empties too heavy to carry out. Some things won't ever change. No worries as methinks that there is a lot more responsible hikers than there are knuckleheads.
Saw only one other couple on the walk out albeit there was evidence of recent activity at the lean-to.
The leaves were 40% changed on the SW exposure and somewhat subdued at that. The Northern exposure remains pretty green.
