Adirondack hiking stick.

I made this hiking stick years ago, and I wish I knew what kind of wood it was. This thing was kind of a spur-of-the-moment project, so I didn't pay much attention. It wa scut on a friends property in Raquette Lake. As I remember, it was one of a bunch of the same tree type, kind of a rich greenish bark with darker areas dabbled down along it. Most of the trees were pretty straight, only a few small branches until you got up near the top. Made for easy peeling. Any other clues are likely lost under the stain/urethane I put on it "back when".

I know its all mostly conjecture with so little to go on, but if any of ya'll cared to offer an an opinion on what kind of wood it might be, I'd be interested in hearing.

The stick is also quite light, and rigid, very little flex.

If I had to make a guess, I'd say maple.
