I went camping with my uncle and cousin last week up in Newcomb. Well, on the second day I wasn't feeling great, and decided to go relieve myself in the woods. I walked a distance and found a good spot. Well, when I got there this bird bolted away quickly. It was roughly the size of a duck. It was dark bodied. Dark brown or black with a thin solid white ring around its neck and a red head. It had the bill of a duck, but I've checked lists of birds in the area, and found nothing. My uncle suggested it was a pileated woodpecker, but I am certain it is not.
Anyone have any ideas? :confused:
