looking for advice.

I'm considering taking a ride up (about a 2.5 hour trip) to the Indian Lake area this afternoon to fly fish some remote ponds for trout. Wondering if it's too late in the season to have decent action. With all the recent rain I am hoping the water temps have remained cool for some surface action. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
